Description – The Financial Advisor is an apprenticeship style role with extensive time spent shadowing senior advisors, evolving over time into presenting to clients with an advisor present, and eventually gaining independence in client interactions. As training progresses, the Financial Advisor becomes an integral part of the team in that they perform the basic functions of the Senior Financial Advisor thereby enabling him/her to concentrate on the more intricate details of the higher net worth clients' more complicated portfolios and needs.  The two positions work especially closely and communicate extensively to ensure every client receives the financial services they require.  Over time they will be expected to independently provide client financial/investment advice and assist in growing the business by bringing in new clients and nurturing existing client relationships.

 

Training:

  • Shadow senior financial advisors and other members of the team to learn the company processes and systems
  • Assist advisor in servicing clients including preparing financial plans and investment reviews, conducting investment research, completing trades and financial transactions.
  • Prepare and ensure new business paperwork processes successfully which may include preparing forms, obtaining appropriate signatures, preparing documentation to scan to brokerage operations, coordinating IRA rollovers and tracking new insurance applications.
  • Shadow senior financial advisors to learn company investment strategy, meeting cadence, and company voice

Key Responsibilities once Independence is Achieved:

  • Review and approve client agendas and investment reviews
  • Gather data and enter into various software to run financial plans, investment reviews, tax plans, and other client related reporting
  • Present financial plans and investment reviews to clients, field questions and provide appropriate investment advice
  • Provide trade instructions when client cash needs arise
  • Partner with Client Service Specialist to make bulk trades/model changes
  • Update and maintain benchmarks in portfolio management system
  • Write and/or edit bulk client communications
  • Attend sponsored events and participate in local networking to assist in growing the business
  • Regularly review market/economy newsletters
  • Assist with quarterly billing process
  • Record detailed notes of all client interactions and meetings
  • Respond to client calls and emails as needed, providing investment advice and answering portfolio management and/or financial planning questions
  • Adhere to all industry regulations and stay abreast of updates and changes
  • Participate in Investment Committee Meetings
  • Additional projects and duties as needed and assigned by management

Job Requirements:

  • Education: College degree in Finance/Accounting or related field preferred
  • A base understanding of the industry, financial concepts, and products
  • A firm understanding of concepts, practices and procedures relating to financial planning and investment management.
  • Progress towards or interest in CFP® designation

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $65,000-$100,000 (dependent on experience level and designations)
